Argentina
Argentina has well defined mandatory certification schemes for electronic and electric products, as wel for radio and telecom interfaces.
Electrical safety approval
Electrical Safety certificaiton came into force by Resolution 92/98. IRAM is the entitiy developing standards and providing Electrical Safety certification. Approval usually applies for electr(on)icequipment over 50V AC or DC or in case the equipment is directly connected to the 220 V AC (50Hz) mains. Power cords also require IRAM approval, depending on the plug types. Argentina has its own mains plug type IRSM 2063 or 2073 (class I unearthed, class II with earth pin). To give an example, regular AC-DC power adapters (including power cords and plugs) must be certified, however the equipment supplied with this DC voltage (e.g. 12 V DC) from the power adapter does not. Local testing can be avoided when applying CB test reports, and may expedite the approval process significantly. Certificates can be issued to a foreign applicant. Certified products shall be marked with IRAM or S-mark logo. Depending on the product specification, Teleconformity can make a correct judgement of what needs to be done.
ENACOM radio and telecom approval
ENACOM (previous CNC) homologation is required for equipment with radio and or telecom interfaces.
The SC/CNT-Q2/3-xx.xx norms define requirements for radio equipment and the SC-St2-xx.xx define requirements for telecom interfaces. Testing can only be conducted in Argentina. Homologation certificates are only issued to a locally registered companies (registration at RAMATEL). Teleconformity can help to find a local company to hold your homologation.
CNC approved equipment shall be marked with the homologation number. Depending on the product specification, Teleconformity can make a correct judgement of what needs to be done.
Special attention must be paid upfront to the procedure for non-compliant equipment arriving in customs, following Law No. 22.802.
