Canada issued RSS-247 Issue 1 for DSSS/FHSS equipment on May 28, 2015. Annex 8 & 9 were taken out of the RSS-210 standard, and converted into a new RSS-247 standard. However, the RSS-210 standard continues to exist! RSS-210 for DSSS/FHSS/Digitally modulated can be used until August 28 this year, after that date, all new WiFi, BT upto V3.0 and BT V4.0, Zigbee, MSK/FSK/GFSK modulated devices must be tested to RSS-247. Equipment like momentary transmitters or equipment operating under the bare EMC limit (comparable with FCC 15.249) shall continue to be tested with RSS-210 Issue 8 with its amendment 2010. Then, less often used is Annex 11 of RSS-210 for Level Probing Radar Equipment, this was also taken out and transformed into a new standard RSS-211 Issue 1.

Joint Statement from the January 10, 2011 meeting of the NAFTA FTC includes reaffirmation of the joint commitment to enter into bilateral MRAs that establish procedures for accepting test results from laboratories or testing facilities in the territory of another NAFTA country (USA, Mexico, Canada) for use in the conformity assessment of telecommunications equipment. This will allow a manufacturer to test a product only once and then have the test results accepted in other NAFTA countries. It is the goal to conclude the MRAs by May 2011.

The basic Industry Canada labeling requirements are specified in RSS Gen Issue 3 5.2 while User Manual information for licence exempt devices is specified in 7.1.3 and digital apparatus (ICES-003) in 7.1.4
Each specific RSS may have additional requirements, like RSS-210 issue 8 A4.2 (Medical Telemetry devices), A4.3 (216-217 MHz), A9.3 (5150-5250 devices "for indoor use only".
RSS-310 Issue 3 2.2 states that Cat. II devices must bear a label with manufacturer/brand name, model and text "Canada 310". RSS-310 2.3 requires to put the statement "This Category II Radiocommunication device complies with Industry Canada Standard RSS-310" in the user manual, both in English and French). Industry Canada public notice 2010-16 announces a new revision of RSS-102 (effective as of January 1, 2011) that will include SAR requirements (RF exposure) for persons who are standing 2.5cm or less close to antennas build in certain devices, such as laptops screens where the antennas are internally located. The new requirements aim to protect the bystanders and will result in more extensive SAR testing (publication of 2010-10-15).
